CenTech Park is a 121-acre technology park located in the towns of Grafton and Shrewsbury. The WBDC acquired the land from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1994. Over the past 10 years the WBDC, in cooperation with the towns of Grafton and Shrewsbury, as well as the Tufts/Cummings Veterinary School, has completed all the necessary infrastructure, including water, sewer, gas, electricity, and permitting work to allow for 675,000 square feet of development.
As part of this successful collaboration, the Town of Grafton and the WBDC received a $900,000 EDA grant, leveraging additional funds from the Commonwealth to provide a $2 million grant for infrastructure within the Park. In addition to the various infrastructure work completed on the Park, the WBDC and the Town of Shrewsbury received a $1.2 million PWED grant and an additional $2.3 million force account from MassHighway to construct a $3.7 million, 1.1-mile connector road, CenTech Boulevard, from Route 20 to the entrance to CenTech Park. CenTech Boulevard not only provides direct access to CenTech Park but further improves access to the Grafton MBTA Commuter Rail Station, and the Tufts/Cummings Veterinary School and Science Park. More importantly, the connector road opened up 69 acres of additional surplus Grafton State Hospital Property for future development by the WBDC.
CenTech Park expands the communities’ tax bases and creates long term sustainable employment for the region. Current tenants within the Park include State Street Bank, IDEXX, Primary Colors, Verrillon, Information Management Corporation and UMass.
To date, six parcels have been sold, the WBDC has assisted in the development of five parcels, and two parcels remain available for development - Lot 3 (7.93 Acres), and Lot 7 (9.5 Acres). The WBDC has recently placed Lot 3 under agreement with a potential renewable energy start-up company and continues to actively market Lot 7 to potential buyers.
