The Worcester Business Development Corporation has been working with DCAM to purchase a 31 acre parcel of land on Plantation Street adjacent to the Massachusetts Biotechnology Park. The WBDC currently ground leases the 31-acre parcel. A detention pond on the site provides drainage for the Biotech Park and could potentially serve additional buildings.
The lower area of the site, along Plantation Street, could accommodate a 128,000 square feet building with associated parking. The WBDC is also studying the development potential of the rear acreage of the site, which could potentially have capacity for two or more additional buildings with the construction of an access road. Due to the sites proximity to UMass Medical School and the Biotech Park, there has already been significant interest in the site.
